Gang Studio

A CREATIVE SPACE
A place of history

In 1974, Claude Puterflam founded the Gang Recording Studio in the heart of Paris. With the help of the sound engineer Jean Pierre Janiaud, the studio became the home of many major recording sessions for artists including Michel Berger, France Gall, Jean-Michel Jarre, Jean-Jacques Goldman, Johnny Hallyday and many others notorious artists of the french music scene.
Designed by the architect and acoustician Francis Milano, the studio was specifically designed to have a relaxing feel to encourage the creativity of the artists, whilst remaining consistent with the high requirements of professional recording environments.
Located on the tributary of an underground river, la Bièvre, the studio was built with a retaining system based on columns made of reinforced concrete, which ensures perfect insulation – as a result, a perfectly controlled, high quality audio with variable geometry emerged in the studio.
In 1989 and with the growing success of the studio, Claude Puterflam and acoustician Christian Malcurt enlarged the volume of the control room to improve the working environment, which became one of the most spacious in Paris.

The studio today
Every year, many artists produced by majors and independent labels are recorded here.
The studio has, among other things, an API 3288 (AUTOMATED PROCESS INC.) and two analog multitrack recorders (16 and 24 tracks), as well as a collection of microphones and vintage devices that are maintained today by Jean Pierre Janiaud and Grammy Award-winning engineer Florian Lagatta.
